The vibration of a string is the closest we come in music to the human voice. The Violin

The Violin is the most popular of the Orchestral stringed instruments, and your child's school will have more students playing this instrument than any of the others. The cost of a Violin can vary greatly, and the higher quality of instrument you have, the nicer sound your child will make - yes even at the very start! We have a great range of student-specific instruments, which all come professionally set up and ready to play, with cases and bows. They come in 1/4, 1/2, 3/4 and Full Size, and if you do not know which size your child needs, our friendly Team are on hand to measure. We have several brands available, from Enrico Student Plus at $275, Vivo Neo at $299, Raggetti RV2 at $379, Hidersine at $399, to Gliga St Romani at $625.

The Viola

The Viola is bigger than the Violin, and with a rich, dark tone, has a clef all to itsself. This make it a wonderful instrument for those who want to stand out in the Orchestra, and get to play the more "intersting" parts! As with our Violins, our Violas come fully set up, and with a case and bow. We have several brands to choose from, from Enrico Student models, Vivo Neo, and Hidersine Vivente, in all the popular student sizes. If you don't know your child's size, our friendly Team can help.

The Cello

Whenever the Cellos begin in the movie, you know the bad guy is about to appear! The haunting, emotive tones of the Cello make it a very popular instrument, in all kinds of music. And the lucky student who is learning this majestic instrument will doubtless enjoy their journey from day one! We carry Enrico Student Plus and Encrico Student II model Cellos, which come professionally set up with cases and bows.

The Double Bass

The backbone of the Orchestra, the staple of the Jazz Band, even popping up in the odd Punk ensemble - the Double Bass, String Bass or Upright Bass is a fantastic instrument to learn. Enrico Student Instruments

Vivo Neo Violins & Violas

The Vivo range of stringed instruments has been crafted to deliver a student instrument that looks, feels, sounds and plays well above its price tag. During extensive consultation with the String community, including Players, Teachers and Violin Luthiers, the Vivo brief was to hone in on the needs of a quality student instrument. And now it’s here.

The Solid Spruce top and Solid Maple back and Sides delivers a rich tone. The inlaid Purfling, Ebony Fingerboard and Pegs combine to give the instrument the classic traditional look. Whilst the Ultra-Lightweight composite tailpiece brings it into the modern world.

Raggetti RV2 Violins

Unlike most other entry level instruments the Raggetti RV2 has been designed and made with close reference to traditional violin making. Workers in the Raggetti factory have been trained in the traditional Cremonese fashion in which they carefully graduate the European spruce top and maple back to achieve the best tone possible. To match the quality of the European spruce a high grade, close grained African ebony is used to make the Swiss-shape pegs and the all-important fingerboard. For performance and tuning stability a French-made Aubert #5 bridge is custom cut and fitted for each instrument and complimented with the inclusion of an ultra light tailpiece with in-built finetuners. Once all these elements are put together the result is a student outfit highly regarded by string specialists for tone and playability.

Award winning violin maker, Mr Vasile Gliga, has been creating instruments since 1980 in his workshop in central Romania. Starting from the humble beginnings of working in a tiny workshop hand-crafting just two violins per month, his talent and passion for instrument making has been the driving factor, leading him to grow the now internationally recognised Gliga brand. 

We carry Gliga III Series Violins and Violas, the best seller in the Gliga series. An affordable package delivering quality without compromise.
