Last week I popped down to see Aaron and the team at Fenech Guitars to pick up their latest addition to the range: True Tone.
Featuring the purest tonewood pairing of AA-grade solid Sitka spruce tops with AA-grade solid mahogany back and sides. This is the classic combination that underpins so many great songs. It’s warm, dynamic, and balanced — with a voice that invites you in and pushes you to play more. There are a range of options on the True Tone series and we have gone with Gold Gotoh Machine Heads on the D78C and on the GAC we have upgraded the pickup to the LR Baggs HiFi Duet.

Built by hand, with care
Like every Fenech, the True Tone isn’t built on an assembly line, and it never will be.
Each guitar is bench-made by hand in our Gold Coast workshop, crafted by fewer than five sets of expert hands from start to finish. It’s the same team, the same process, and the same passion that goes into every Fenech, just made more accessible for more players.
The Purest Tonewood Pairing
When choosing the woods for the True Tone Series, I went straight to the heart of acoustic guitar history, mahogany and spruce.
This is the classic combination that underpins so many great songs. It’s warm, dynamic, and balanced — with a voice that invites you in and pushes you to play more. We use AA-grade solid Sitka spruce tops with AA-grade solid mahogany back and sides, and every top and back is individually optimized for maximum resonance.

VTH Series All Camphor GAC
The VTH Series or ‘Hardwood’ series is the second tier in Fenech's range and is crafted from high quality, hand selected all-solid hardwood timbers for both the back and sides and the soundboard.
Camphor Laurel is an excellent tonal choice for both strummers and flat pickers. The wood delivers a crisp, warm mid-range sound with a slight bass leaning. Moreover, the wood’s unique and striking visual features make it an ideal option for musicians who want something a little more distinctive, as each back and side set has bold colour variations.

VT Series Camphor
The VT Series is the first tier in our range and is crafted from high quality, hand selected all-solid timbers.
Make no mistake, all though this is the first tier it is a feature packed, premium high quality handmade instrument and is perfect for anyone starting out, a busking/gigging musician or every day strummer or picker.
The unique Grand Auditorium size guitar features the same sweeter and more modern blend of curves as our Auditorium guitar but with a slightly larger footprint unlocking even greater tonal possibilities. This model is meticulously voiced to produce guitars that have gained a reputation for a balanced blend of warmth, clarity and sustain while producing a bold bass response with a well-defined midrange. It’s an everything guitar for the everyday player/ singer songwriter.
