Pearl began in 1946 in a small backyard workshop in Sumida-ku Tokyo. Katsumi Yanagisawa was known for making quality music stands when local musicians began requesting drums. Choosing his company name to represent value and prestige, over seven decades later Pearl is known throughout the world as the most rcognisable name in drums.
