RuralAid - Giving the Gift of Music

Have you heard of Rural Aid? It is a not-for-profit organisation who help provide hay to farmers in need.

They also run a program called Gift of Music which provides instruments to children in remote indigenous schools.

Last week a group of eight Brisbane blokes got together with Evan from String Tech who kindly offered to service and repair donated orchestral strings instruments pro bono.

Evan also received support from two musical instrument importers, National Music and F Payton & Son, who kindly donated parts for the instruments.

The boys had a great day together sharing their skills and were able to repair 15 instruments, which will find their new homes during the upcoming Brisbane Regional Youth Orchestra tour to western Queensland.

If you have any playable instruments that you no longer need and you would like to donate them to a worthy cause, you can drop them off to The Music Spot and we will pass them on for you, or go direct to the Rural Aid website giftofmusic.org.au and donate direct.

This is a nice story of eight Aussie blokes from the city digging deep to give some bush kids a chance of experiencing the gift of music.
