What Clint Likes: Roland GW8

I use a GW8 as a secondary synth in all of my gigs.

I like it because the bank and favorite presets are really simple and quick to use.

You can change all of your keyboard settings (FX, tone, Rhythm, volume, pedal assign) at the touch of a button.

The piano sound is a little average when plugged through a PA, but if you have the time to go through the menu before each gig, check out the PA that is being used and change all of your performance banks to that specific PA tone then it sounds great.

This is why I use a digital piano as my primary keyboard.

The other difficult thing is usability, it’s very MENU orientated.

The EP sounds are really good and the organ tones are good with a switchable fast and slow rotary that can be controlled via an external control pedal.

And when you learn to use the effects menu you can get some really eccentric sounds out of this little beast.

Very light and compact and here’s the best part: you can get a perfect fit hard case if you take out the compartment of a rectangular electric guitar case.

Which saves you bundles (just dont get our in store drummer to help he hacked mine badly)…
